Have ever heard of the term EDC?

EDC, for those of you not familiar with the phrase, means EveryDay Carry. Everyday carry or every-day carry is a collection of useful items that are consistently carried on a person every day. The main reasons for having EDC are utility and preparedness; to help individuals overcome simple everyday problems, and to prepare someone for the unexpected and possibly dangerous situation
-A SOLID EVERYDAY CARRY KIT WILL HELP YOU BE PREPARED FOR WHATEVER LIFE THROWS AT YOU-
So you want to put together an everyday carry kit. You’ve chosen to be prepared for whatever life throws at you, from normal daily needs to life-threatening emergency situations. The question is, what should you include?
To begin with, there are basic items like a knife, a watch, a pen, a flashlight, a compass, a power bank and a phone, but there’s also a number of other products in various configurations that would be great for your kit

Did you know that in South-Africa, it is legal to carry a knife but the length of the blade must not exceed 10cm in length otherwise it is considered illegal
ONLY CARRY WHAT YOU NEED
This is no child’s play everyday carry and is no bug out bag for when the sh-t hits the fan. These are real, practical, durable items you should consider carrying every day
Two important things are frequently misunderstood by beginner EDC fans. The first is that EDC gear is about what you would carry every day of your life. The second is to make sure you do carry it, otherwise, what would be the point of getting it in the first place?
Has GAC inspired you to start carrying your EDC?

Robbers caught in the act in Soshanguve
On 18.08.2020 a joint operation between SAPS Organised Crime Unit and GAC Risk Solutions took place. We received information about a planned robbery of a well-known delivery company. The delivery vehicle was on-route delivering parcels in the Soshanguve area.
We noticed the delivery vehicle being followed by the charcoal-colored vehicle that matched the exact description of the suspect’s vehicle that was being used to commit numerous robberies.
At first, we kept our distance while following the suspects. The delivery vehicle made its way through a small suburb, not noticing the suspects were following them.
GOOD MEN WILL KNOW YOU, EVIL MEN WILL FEAR YOU
When the delivery vehicle pulled into a driveway of a house in Soshanguve, the charcoal-colored vehicle pulled in behind them in an attempt to rob them. We then acted swiftly and apprehend all 4 suspects.
The suspects were all taken to Soshanguve Police station for processing. Two of the four suspects were positively identified for committing a previous crime with that exact same vehicle.

Do you know about the guard that doesn’t sleep?
Retail Video-verification captures thieves in action
What is Videofied?
Videofied is not a CCTV surveillance system that simply records videos that are accessed by the owner. Rather, Videofied is a complete video alarm system that sends a short video clip with the alarm notification to GAC Risk Solutions Control Room for immediate review.
Videofied links the video with GAC Staff in the control room – self-surveillance does not offer this option or layer of security. Our monitored video alarm delivers quicker police dispatch.

When the MotionViewer sensor is tripped, a 10-second video clip of the event is captured and sent to the GAC control room. The wireless, passive infrared sensor (PIR) works with a digital video camera to record color video during the daytime, monochrome at night, all in full VGA resolution. Verification of the event is key – and so is swift, rapid video transfer to the Central Station for review and dispatch. The video clip can also be configured for a lower-resolution, smaller file

The video-verified alarm system is your answer

If you have a Traditional Alarm not monitored by GAC Risk Solutions
Response Time : + 20 Minutes
If you have a Videofied Alarm System monitored by GAC Risk Soutions
Response Time : 10 Minutes
Why choose Videofied over another alarm system?
A traditional alarm system notifies you that a sensor was tripped, but can’t verify who or what tripped the alarm. Videofied MotionViewers send a short video clip every time the built-in PIR motion sensor trips, providing immediate verification to the operator at the central monitoring station and enabling Priority Response from the police to make an arrest and stop the intruder
How does Videofied work?
When the MotionViewer sensor is tripped, a 10 second video clip of the event is captured and sent through cell or IP network to a central monitoring station (ARC).
Where can I install a Videofied system?
The entire Videofied system is wireless and capable of running on batteries, so it can be installed anywhere there is cellular reception. Control panels communicate to monitoring stations over the 3G/4G cell network or a wired Ethernet connection. For remote sites where the cellular signal may be weaker, a directional Yagi antenna kit is available.
Do I need lighting? How far do the illuminators reach?
You don’t need to purchase additional lighting. MotionViewers have built-in infrared illuminators with an outdoor range of 30 feet (just over 9 meters), and an indoor range of 23 feet (just over 7 meters).
What if someone grabs the Motion Viewer?
If theft of the system is a major concern, remember that the devices don’t require wiring or power; they can be installed in subtle locations. Even if someone approaches an armed MotionViewer, the event is captured and transmitted to the panel, which may be hundreds of feet away.
Does inclement weather affect the system?
No. Advanced algorithmic technology in the PIR means the MotionViewer doesn’t trip on rain, snow or lightning, except in extreme cases.

Video-verified alarm leads to arrest

What is Videofied?
Videofied is not a CCTV surveillance system that simply records videos that are accessed by the owner. Rather, Videofied is a complete video alarm system that sends a short video clip with the alarm notification to the central station for immediate review. Videofied links the video with the central station – self-surveillance does not. A monitored video alarm delivers quicker police dispatch.
Videofied delivers faster police response to an actual crime because the human operators filter out false alarms. Videofied systems provide responsive security to a large variety of residential, commercial, and industrial sites and applications from large homes and small offices to remote mining plants and urban substations.
“Video-verified alarms lead to quicker dispatch and more arrests“
The truth is undeniable: video-verified alarms are drastically more effective than traditional alarm systems. Time and again, the benefits reinforce each other:

The Nyaope ‘Bluetooth’ craze is real – NO to drugs

Nyaope (also known as whoonga or wunga) is a highly addictive, dangerous and destructive street drug, unique to South Africa
A single hit can cost as little as R30 for a parcel or straw and is smoked by heating the cocktail of ingredients and inhaling the fumes or to inject it with a needle in their feigns. The blood drug solutions are then extracted from the feigns and injected into their partner to save money. this process is called “BLUETOOTH”
The drug Nyaope is widely sold on most corners in rural areas
Nyaope is a cocktail of illegal drugs
Both heroin and dagga, which are the main narcotic ingredients of nyaope, are listed as undesirable dependence-producing substances in the Drugs Act.
The effects of nyaope include:
Severe body aches, shivering, anxiety, insomnia, glazed eyes, hot and cold flushes
The low-grade heroin used means one can get toxic side effects such as skin diseases, frequent infections and lowered immunity.
Because nyaope is smoked with dagga, the user becomes addicted to dagga as well.
Dagga can have side effects such as hallucinations, paranoia, flashbacks, changes in eating habits, weight loss, and restlessness
Nyaope users usually begin to neglect their school work or their jobs, and may eventually quit work or school altogether.
Users need extra money to pay for the drugs also increases, and this often leads to criminal behavior when they no longer have legal access to money.
Because nyaope is so addictive, addicts may become violent when they are unable to access the drug, and may commit violent crimes even against family members or friends in order to get money.

6 Hours of hell during a farm attack – GAC Responded
During the early morning hours of 25 June, we heard a radio alert call and received an alert message on PCPF Response Group about two vehicles and a trailer that were stolen during a farm attack
We immediately responded by collaborating with Tracker in the pursuit to recover the stolen vehicles. After the vehicles were recovered we backtracked movements.
We came past a residence in the Winterveld area. At first, we passed the residence and couldn’t find any trace of the trailer or the stolen items. We turned around at the corner of the street Upon doing so we noticed 2 vehicles with at least 4 people standing outside the house given us more attention than most people, we were busy passing them when we noticed a piece of the trailer.

We immediately made contact with the owner to ask about the description of the trailer. The owner did identify his trailer over the phone and it matched the description of the trailer that we saw. During this time we were busy notifying the owner, the suspects started to make a run for it. The first vehicle pulled out the yard and drove off, when the 2nd vehicle wanted to drive off we blocked his escape route. The suspect climbed out of the vehicle and ran behind the house.
We had no other choice but to wait for back-up because we were outnumbered in an unknown terrain for us. SAPS and Bidvest Protea Coin National Task Team ground units and Airwing responded within minutes of the call
We cautiously approached the house. We entered the premises and searched the property for the suspect. Upon searching for the suspect we noticed all household items in the house. We searched the house and vehicle. In the vehicle, we found a lot of female jewelry. We made contact with the owner so that he can describe all the items that were taken from them. It all matched up.
The Police immediately started with their investigation, no arrests have been made as of yet. All the stolen items were handed back to the owner
A special thanks to all involved:
